The Veteran Corps of America (Veteran Corps) is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business that is certified by the U.S. Small Business Administration as an 8(a) Program Participant and Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) through September 2017. The 8(a) Program (FAR 19.8) and the Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business Procurement Program (FAR 19.14) empower buyers to quickly and easily purchase our services and products on a sole source basis.
Our e-commerce gateway provides the catalog and shopping cart capability to easily purchase products and services via a variety of ordering and payment options. In accordance with FAR 19.8, Contracting with the Small Business Administration (The 8(a) Program), sole source awards are authorized when:
| (1) | The anticipated award price of the contract (including options) will not exceed— |

| (i) | $5.5 million for a requirement within the NAICS codes for manufacturing; or |
|
| (ii) | $3.5 million for a requirement within any other NAICS code; |

The 8(a) process is SIMPLE:
The Contracting Officer sends their boilerplate 8(a) offer letter to our SBA business development specialist stating what they want to buy directly from us. FAR 19.804-3 then gives SBA specific timelines to review and approve the offer:
(c) For acquisitions not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold [$100,000], when the contracting activity makes an offer to the 8(a) Program on behalf of a specific 8(a) firm and does not receive a reply to its offer within 2 days, the contracting activity may assume the offer is accepted and proceed with award of an 8(a) contract. For orders > $100K but <$5.5M for products and $3.5M for services they get up to 10 business days.
